ENTERTAINMENT-Y

Ariel was almost a blonde / maybe the most ridiculous time-waste-y "research" I've ever done online? - I read this interview with Judy Greer in which she talks about a rather mean costume designer and then I proceeded to click my way through her imdb page until I figured out who I think the designer was (my guess) / "I would dearly love to see just one day on TV where all the fancy, brutal male protagonists have to act like their loathed spouses"- an article by another Mallory (I'm fine with there being other people named Mallory as long as they happen to be great writers) / Breaking Bad storylines that never made it to the show / Melaena Cadiz's singles project / recasting the first five episodes of Sex and the City

DESIGN-ISH

Annie Larson on Sight Unseen / vintage ice cream packaging / Samantha Pleet on Boots & Pine / a color palette friendship bracelet how-to at Fieldguided / the Dealtry fall/winter lookbook / Allira's new project with her brother / an interview with Phoebe Wahl / beautiful bread wrappers / dreamy skirt situations / somehow I forgot to link to Anne's comic about her trip to THE SLOTH SANCTUARY!! / a paper cut hamburger

ETC.

publication parade / I've been wanting to cut my hair and the "Cut It" posts at She Lets Her Hair Down have been super helpful / birthday cakes for animals / a beautiful food blog / reading lists / in the stacks / ballet photography

Ellen Surrey

This is a book I did, before my trip to London, on 8 women of the modernist period in California.  I felt that each of these women deserve just as much attention as the men of that time.  Every one of these ladies made great strides in art and are responsible for some of the most iconic images within our culture. These women include Edith Head, June Christy, Mary Blair, Peggy Moffitt, Ray Eames, Sister Corita Kent, Ruth Handler, and Lucille Ball.  I find each of these ladies to be inspiring to me as an artist, but even more so as a female artist.  These pieces in particular are the main portraits from my book.
I would like to travel back in time and somehow work with Edith Head.
