Ellen Surrey

This is a book I did, before my trip to London, on 8 women of the modernist period in California.  I felt that each of these women deserve just as much attention as the men of that time.  Every one of these ladies made great strides in art and are responsible for some of the most iconic images within our culture. These women include Edith Head, June Christy, Mary Blair, Peggy Moffitt, Ray Eames, Sister Corita Kent, Ruth Handler, and Lucille Ball.  I find each of these ladies to be inspiring to me as an artist, but even more so as a female artist.  These pieces in particular are the main portraits from my book.
I would like to travel back in time and somehow work with Edith Head.
