July 2012 - Things I Read, Things I Watched & Things I Decided I Want to Read

Previous editions of this sort of post - June / April & May / March / February / January

Sooooo.... what did I read this month?
Well, I read Pet Sematary and a book of academic-ish essays on Six Feet Under, which was a pretty morbid duo.

Then I read Summer by Edith Wharton (because it's summer, duh).

Finally (other than some books I don't really enjoy enough to give shout outs to), Bob Newhart's autobiography and a book about comedy teams: the lightheartedness of those books equalled out the earlier morbidity.

What did I watch?
I finally saw Moonrise Kingdom. When the (spoiler?) dog got shot! The cut to his dead body! Shocking! R.I.P.!

But yeah - I enjoyed the movie just as much as I thought I would.
I also finally saw Tiny Furniture....
.... and rewatched another angsty movie - Reality Bites.
Brave. I loved the witch. And would you believe me if I told you that there is a woman in my town who looks EXACTLY like her. Like frighteningly similar.
A Dangerous Method. I did not expect this movie to be as beautiful to watch as it was.
I had never seen O Brother, Where Art Thou.... so I remedied that.
Modern Romance. I love you young Al Brooks.
Friends with Kids. I mean, when you enjoy everyone in the cast you kind of feel compelled to watch the movie. The use of the term of endearment "doll" by Adam Scott's character was like nails on a chalkboard for me though.
Oh, and Magic Mike. Of course.

And - lastly - now for the books that I've added to my to-read  list...

  1. I recently watched Reality Bites too! I'm on such a '90s kick. (slash angsty post-college life stories kick)

  3. The Haunted House book is sooo cute !! It's all block printed designs and so inspirational from that aspect. Plus, kiddie Halloween, duh.
