I love ballet movies - good ones (Black Swan) and bad ones (Center Stage).... I love them all. And I really loved The Turning Point (1977). The movie stars Shirley MacLaine, Ann Bancroft, Tom Skerritt and (Aleksandr Petrovsky himself) Mikhail Baryshnikov.
When her daughter joins a ballet company, a former dancer is forced to confront her long-ago decision to give up the stage to have a family.
(and another dancer--who never stopped dancing to have a family--has her own decisions to reflect on.... you get the gist of it.)
